News Letter 07

7th and 8th of March 2009
Wow what a weekend for the Skyhigh Crew! We did a total of 27 tandems this weekend with some very special people sharing their first skydives with us. Our aircraft operator was running a little behind so Saturday got off to a latish start for everyone except Sammy and Tracey who had been at JSC since 6am after receiving some slightly misleading information from a friend. That didn’t deter them from screaming their hearts out and having a great time with us though.
Straight after them came Bruce and Ann-Louise for Bruce’s 30th birthday and believe us he had an absolute blast! Happy birthday dude!
Next up were Marriete and Desre before Gian, Willie and Francois went up to carry out the dare they hade made with each other. All of them had a blast and were relieved to be back on solid ground again after the jump. The rest of the afternoon seemed to rush by in a blur with Hannes and Lourens, JP and Nadia and Chris and Russel plummeting from the PAC and landing safely with Tandem Instructors Glen and Dave.
Then it was the turn of some of Skyhigh’s return friends: Adam and Sean and Adam’s girlfriend Tiaana. Adam and Sean jumped with us a few weeks ago and came back for round two bringing Tiaana who had no idea she was jumping until she stepped onto the DZ and saw canopies landing. She did a superb job and loved every second of it. As did Adam and Sean who are now keen to do AFF, nice guys! Last up for the day were Malcolm and another Shaun who were cool, calm and collected from take off till landing.
Sunday morning arrived with clear skies and a few small hangovers around the DZ thanks to the drinks flowing freely in the Bush Pub on Saturday night. This didn’t deter Dave, Glen, PJ and Marius from taking Burhaan, Mohammed, Yasmin and Cassim up on their jumps with Natalie and Karen following close behind, well done girls. Then it was the turn of a JSC legend to go jumping, none other than Gavin the man who runs our bar and who is directly responsible for keeping the Skyhigh Crew’s thirst under control after hours. Judging by his face in the sky and on the ground Gavin enjoyed it to the max. And last but not least it was Christelle’s turn to taste the sky, she’s becoming a true little dropzone rat and it was a pleasure to have her jump with us. Well done to all of you who jumped with us this weekend, your smiles and reactions to the jumps are why we do this in the first place.

PJ Eales – Videographer

PJ has been skydiving since December 2002 and has done just over 1000 skydives. In his time in the sport he has flown camera for various formation skydiving and freefly teams in both friendly competition and at the South African National Championships, helping them earn bronze, silver and gold medals along the way. He has also had the privilege of jumping at Perris Valley Skydiving and The World Freefall Convention in the USA – training with world class coaches and spending time in the wind tunnel. PJ has two main loves in our sport: tandem video and canopy piloting. He’s the joker of the group, always inventing new ways to make our passengers laugh – he’s the true definition of the word “vidiot”. His other passion is canopy piloting and when he’s not in the sky playing with tandem pairs or editing videos on the ground he can be seen swooping the pond at JSC. Upcoming Events
